How was your weekend? For MotorCrush cofounder and partner Andy Lally, it was a weekend filled with the thrill of victory.
Andy and co-driver Katherine Legge battled to a first place finish at the Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen in their newly wrapped Independence Day themed Acura NSX GT3 with Lady Liberty. Andy was wearing MotorCrush stickers on his helmet – it seems safe to assume we can consider MotorCrush a good luck charm!
It was tense down the stretch, but Andy held off Alessandro Balzan’s Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 by just over half a second. That was sweet revenge for last year at the very same race, when Balzan was able to hold off Andy at the end.
Andy talked to reporters about this year’s thrilling finish: “Last year, I got to the bumper of Balzan, and he did a great job holding me off. When I heard he got around (Jeroen) Bleekemolen right there at the end, I knew the pressure was coming on. That’s when you take a little extra in the bus stop, and you start taking it in a little deeper into each corner. It gets a little crazy.”
The Acura team is on a roll – it’s their second straight win.
Pole position! Our Acura NSX GT3 ran perfect in qualifying! Thank you to @michaelshankracing for setting up an amazing car and thank you to @acura and @hondaracing_hpd for the hard work behind the scenes and attention to detail. @wgi1948 is my favorite track and this has just added to the long list of great memories that I have here.
