Motorclassica 2018


Australia's premier automotive exhibition is set to be bigger and better than ever before, when the doors open to Motorclassica 2018 at the Royal Melbourne Exhibition Building on 12 - 14 October. In its ninth year, Motorclassica will again bring together the greatest collection of classic cars and motorcycles, mixed with the very newest supercars and sports cars from the world's premium automotive manufacturers. In 2018, Motorclassica will celebrate significant milestones, including, 90 years of the Australian Grand Prix, 70 years of the legendary Harley-Davidson Panhead and 60 years of the Triumph Bonneville. Also on display will be cars and motorcycles from the Art Deco era of design, along with an exhibition of significant Cadillacs, the legendary Muscle Cars of the late '60s and early '70s and in contrast a selection of quirky Micro Cars. 'Motorclassica After 5' will see the opening hours of the Show extended on the Friday and Saturday night, until 9pm. Attendees will receive $25 entry and a free glass of champagne upon entry, while enjoying the Show in a laid back after hours environment. Also part of the Saturday night activities, will be the introduction of the 'Rare Heritage Number Plate Auction' which will begin at 7pm. More than 30 Victorian heritage number plates will be up for grabs, with some expected to fetch up to $500,000.00!! More than 140 cars and motorcycles will compete for the Australian International Concours d'Elegance across multiple classes, while for fans of the very latest models, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ford, McLaren, Lamborghini and Alpine from the Renault Group will be show exhibitors. An innovation for this year will be a Live Restoration Theatre, featuring five separate work bays, each demonstrating various stages of the vehicle restoration process. Long-time Motorclassica favourite, Club Sandwich presented by Lorbek Luxury Cars, will return and will be joined outside by a variety of gourmet food trucks to keep rumbling tummies satisfied. For the ultimate Motorclassica experience, show goers can purchase a VIP ticket which provides access to an exclusive lounge. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea and snacks are provided all day, including coffee, wine and soft drinks. Just 100 VIP tickets per day will be available. As always, Motorclassica will kick off with its annual Tour Classica, which will see many of the key entrants' parade through the Melbourne CBD on the morning of Thursday 11 October.
